Abstract

  • A total of 1,790,437 thousand Jambi residents are the workforce, the number increased by 65.8 thousand people from August 2017. In line with that, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also increased 3.82 points.
  • In the past year, unemployment increased by 2.28 thousand people, while TPT fell by 0.01 points. Judging from the level of education, the TPT for Vocational High Schools (SMK) is 7.75 percent, still dominating among other levels of education.
  • The working population is 1,721.36 thousand people, an increase of 63.54 thousand people from August 2017. The sectors that experienced an increase in the percentage of the population working mainly in the trade sector (0.73 points), the mining sector (0.5 points) and company services (0.38 points). Meanwhile, the sectors that experienced a decline were the agricultural sector (1.21 points), the transportation sector (0.35 points), the accommodation sector & the provision of drinking food (0.17 points).
  • 961,765 thousand people (55.87 percent) work in informal activities, but the percentage drops by 2.66 points compared to August 2017.
  • Of the 1,721,362 thousand people who worked, 7.61 percent were categorized as underemployed and 28.54 percent were part-time workers. In the past year, the number of half unemployed fell by 1.06 points, while part-time workers also fell by 2.24 points.
